A Study on Status of Unbalanced Diet in 6th Grade School Children in Seoul Area Jung


Abstract
In order to know the status of unbalanced diet in school children, a survey study with questionaire was carried out for 888 children who are attending 6th grade of primary school
in Seoul area, from 6 to 11 of July, 1978. And following results were obtained.
i. The rate of unbalanced diet in school children, Seoul area, was 43.8% (389 children) and it was 43. 2% in boys and 44. 5% in girls.
2. The rate of unbalanced diet was 51.2% in public school children and 35.9% in private school children.
3. Order of foods by the degree of unbalanced diet rate was fried pumpkin (16. 0%),
butter (12.8%), cheese (12.7%), roasted anchovy(7.3%), broiled hair-tail(6.8%), respectively.
4. The rate of unbalanced diet by the number of sibling was 51.7% in the group of one sibling, 44.5% in 2-3 sibling, 43.2% in more than 4 sibling children.
5. The rate of unbalanced diet by mother¢¥s education level was 54. 2% in the mother group of illiteracy, 49.4% in primary school, 44.5% in middle school, 41.7% in high school, and 41. 2% in college graduated.
6. The rate of unbalanced diet by type of milk feeding was 44. 7% in the group of breast feeding, 46. 2% in milk feeding, and 41.6% in mixed feeding.
